People leave their homes daily to seek their provisions in this world. As the dawn breaks, we prepare ourselves to leave our homes with many plans to fulfill. When the day ends, we tend to return to our homes with varying feelings depending on the day. A lot happens between these two moments; several feelings and emotions cross our minds about various things and concerns over many issues. How can we stay mindful of our actions while seeking provisions outside the home and return home with a peaceful mind?
Anas ibn Malik (peace be upon him) reported: Prophet Muhammed (Peace and Blessings be upon him) said: Whoever says upon leaving their house:
بِسْمِ اللهِ تَوَكَّلْـتُ عَلى اللهِ وَلا حَوْلَ وَلا قُـوَّةَ إِلاّ بِالله
(In the Name of Allah, I have placed my trust in Allah; there is no might and no power except by Allah.)
It will be said to him: “You are guided, defended, and protected. The devil will go far away from him.”
Abu Dawud reports it with this addition: “One devil will say to another: How can you deal with a man who has been guided, defended and protected?’’
[Abu Dawud 4/325, At tirmithi 5/490 and An-nasa’i. See also Al-Abani, sahih at-tirmithi 3/151]
When you leave your 🏡,
1. Pause momentarily, be conscious about the words from above Dua, and utter them.
2. Feel the guidance and protection of Allah. (Imagine that you are provided with that VIP security by Allah)
3. Whenever you are puzzled in your daily affairs, remember that you are guided, defended, and protected.
4. Say a conscious Alhamdulillah for guidance and protection when you return home.
I pray to Allah to guide us in our daily affairs and ask for barakah in everything that we have and do. Remember, our faith is not just a belief; it’s a profound trust in the unseen. Allah has blessed us with unique faculties to sense this world and appreciate Allah the Almighty.
